In anticipation of the year of the rooster in 2017, Montblanc has unveiled two new unique writing instruments that will appeal to anyone fascinated by all things to do with Chinese culture.

First up on the list is the Rooster Limited Edition 512. Inspired by the tenth symbol of the Chinese zodiac, the barrel in black lacquer has been paired with a striking silver cap hand-engraved to depict a proud rooster ushering in a brand new day. This intricate design can also be viewed on the rhodium-coated Au750 solid gold nib.

A closer glimpse towards the top of the cap will also reveal birth years relevant to those born in the year of the rooster, while the cone of the pen has been set with a faceted citrine in fancy yellow that is believed to be the animal’s birthstone.

Not to be outdone is the majestic Water Dragon Limited Edition 88, a 146 fountain pen that celebrates the dragon of the year. Limited to just 88 pieces, this superb writing instrument has been fitted with a nib in precious Au750 solid champagne gold that pairs well with the lacquered barrel in a lucky shade of glorious red.

Final touches include the cap in Ag925 sterling silver that showcases a stunning piece of artwork topped off with a mother of pearl inlay in black onyx covered in sapphire crystal, while a faceted amethyst, the birthstone of the mythical creature, has been set on the base of this luxurious writing instrument.

The Montblanc Rooster Fountain Pen 512 and the Water Dragon Edition 88 pens are now available in Montblanc boutiques. For more information, visit montblanc.com
