There are diamonds and then there are diamonds upon diamonds. The unveiling of Hublot’s €2 million (RM8.6 million) BB timepiece outshines other jewellery timepieces by the sheer amount of diamonds that adorn the entire piece. As its name suggests, the hefty price tag is merited by a total of 140 carats of diamonds; with 637-baguette cut diamonds in the timepiece large enough to fit a ring. It took the skilled hands of 45 expert gem cutters more than 13,000 hours to cut the stones with an additional 2,000 hours required to set the timtpeice. On the crown, a single rose-cut diamonds takes centrestage, and in the heart of the Big Bang is the Vendome Tourbillon movement. If an expression of horology could leave mouths agape, this timepiece would certainly take top billing.
