Thinking Sustainably


In an age when green is the new black, some companies have made it their business to ensure their operations are sustainable for the environment and humanity. Four leaders of some of Malaysia’s most environmentally conscious organisations tell The Peak why sustainability is at the core of their businesses.

Convictions: Investment in energy-efficient systems has proven to result in increased cost savings. For example, innovations in HP’s high volume desktop and notebook PC families are on target to save one billion kWh of electricity by 2011, relative to 2008.

 

As for data centers, the growth in data center energy consumption has doubled in the past five years, and it’s expected to double again in the next five years to over 100 billion kWh at a cost of USD7.4 billion annually. Through energy management best practices combined with IT consolidation, the estimated energy savings in data centers are 45 per cent.
