Last September’s Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris’ Grand Palais proved to be the perfect staging ground for lovers of art and excellence to take in pieces of haute joaillerie, the kind that dreams are made.Celebrating antiquity and fine arts, 80 internationally-renowned art dealers and seven jewellers recently converged in Paris from 15 to 22 September to participate in the by-invitation-only Biennale des Antiquaires, a showcase of culture, savoir-faire and heritage.
They presented their rarest masterpieces, spanning archaeology, tribal art, Asian art, 17th-century furniture, 20th-century decorative arts, antique arms, modern paintings and books and manuscripts. Attracting collectors from around the world, this major event in the world art market calendar debuted in 1962 and this year commemorates its 25th anniversary around the themes of excellence and talent.
The exhibitors of contemporary fine jewellery included Cartier, Chanel, Dior, Harry Winston and Van Cleef & Arpels, as well as two that appeared for the first time: Louis Vuitton and Piaget. The Peak Malaysia got up close and personal with the Biennale’s haute joaillerie stars.
